Russian Tech Elites Kasperskaya and Ashmanov Trash Kremlin's Dumb AI Law

The draft law, cooked up by the Russian Ministry of Digital Development to support AI, was supposed to show the world that Moscow is a tech superpower. Instead, Natalya Kasperskaya of InfoWatch and Igor Ashmanov of Ashmanov & Partners dissected the document and found it completely hollow. They pointed out that the bill relies on vague definitions, chaotic terminology, and grants unlimited, unchecked power to the government while entirely ignoring basic data safety.

Instead of actual rules, the law mostly consists of decorative slogans and promises to figure out the actual regulations later. The critics noted that the state is basically asking for a blank check to control AI without taking any responsibility for data leaks or algorithmic bias. The review concludes that the proposed framework is so raw it cannot even protect citizens from basic digital identity theft or corporate abuse.

A classic case of state bureaucracy trying to regulate future tech with Soviet-style paperwork, only to get publicly roasted by their own state-backed tech barons. It turns out that building a digital dictatorship is much harder when the developers themselves cannot agree on basic definitions.
