Cursor just declared war on GitHub with Origin and a giant 1.5T model
While everyone was busy processing SpaceX buying them for a cool sixty billion, the geniuses behind Cursor dropped a triple-threat keynote. We are talking about rewriting the entire developer stack for an army of AI agents that never sleep.
CEO Michael Truell took the stage to unveil Origin, a platform they are calling "GitHub for the agentic era." Traditional code repositories were built for slow, coffee-drinking humans who commit code twice a day, not for hyperactive AI bots that clone and push code millions of times. This new infrastructure, built on their acquired service Graphite, is designed to handle 296,000 clones and 81,000 pushes every single hour with global synchronization under 400 milliseconds. It is a direct shot at GitHub, especially now that Microsoft is struggling to keep its service stable and secure.
Then came the heavy artillery: a teaser for their upcoming proprietary AI model. Instead of relying on the Chinese Kimi engine like they do now, they are training a behemoth with over 1.5 trillion parameters. This new brain is being cooked on 100,000 GPUs inside Elon Musk's famous xAI Colossus supercomputer with the ambitious goal of being "intelligent beyond coding."
To tie it all together, they announced Cursor Mobile. This pocket-sized control center lets developers deploy and monitor their AI agents directly from a smartphone, allowing them to track edits and push tasks on the go.
Transitioning from a simple text editor extension to a fully integrated AI empire backed by rocket money is a wild flex. It seems the future of software development involves fewer programmers writing code and more managers swiping on their phones to approve automated agent labor.
